Biography

Malavika Parthasarathy is a J.S.D candidate at the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to her J.S.D, she completed her LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2021, and graduated with a B.A. LL.B (Honours) from National Law University Delhi in 2018. Her primary research areas include empirical criminal law, sexual violence, and reproductive justice. Malavika has previously worked on a project examining proposals for the reform of the Supreme Court in India and conducted field-based research on the legal barriers women face in accessing abortion services in both rural and urban areas. She is a recipient of a national fellowship which allowed her to study the intersection of gender and the digital economy. Additionally, Malavika has served as a visiting professor at the National Law School of India University in Bangalore, where she taught a seminar course on reproductive justice. She is deeply passionate about animal welfare, health equity, and the intersection of law and literature, and she hopes to integrate these lifelong passions into her research and practice.
