Biography

Malcolm Tulip is an actor, director, playwright, and head of the directing concentration at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. He co-founded the Interarts program and teaches courses in directing, physical theatre, acting, clowning, and devised theatre. Over his career, he has directed 35 productions at the University of Michigan, including works such as "War," "Arabian Nights," "Iphigenia in Aulis," and many more. He has directed new operas in collaboration with Stephen Rush and Michael Rodemer, and has a longstanding collaboration with Professor Vince Mountain, which includes work with the Copernicus Program in Polish Studies. His contributions to theatre extend beyond directing; he has performed in various stages across Europe and the USA and held associate artist positions in notable organizations like the Performance Network in Ann Arbor. Tulip has written and produced eight original plays with his company, Prospero Theatre Co., and has toured extensively. He is a graduate of Goldsmiths' College, University of London, and L'École Jacques Lecoq in Paris, and is a member of the American Actors Equity Association and Theatre Movement Educators.
