Dr. Malena Amato

Biography

Malena Amato is an affiliate faculty member at Dell Medical School's Department of Ophthalmology with over 18 years of experience and a specialization in oculofacial plastic surgery. She is a board-certified surgeon and completed her medical degree at Georgetown University, followed by a surgical internship at Stanford Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at Georgetown. Dr. Amato has performed thousands of eyelid and facial surgeries and is known for her expertise in minimally invasive cosmetic techniques. Throughout her career, she has contributed significantly to the field, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation in national professional organizations such as the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Her dedication to medical missions has taken her to underserved countries, assisting communities in Vietnam, Brazil, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Cambodia. Dr. Amato is highly respected in her community, recognized as one of Austin’s Top Doctors and serving as the president of the Austin Ophthalmology Society. She founded Eyelid & Facial Plastic Surgery Associates in Austin, where she provides personalized care in a state-of-the-art facility. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys skiing and traveling with her family.
