Dr. Malin Eriksson

Biography

Malin Eriksson is a professor in Social Work and an associate professor in Public Health, with extensive research qualifications including a doctorate in public health science. Her thesis explored social capital and community action in relation to health promotion. Eriksson's research interests encompass preventive social work, community work, and structural social interventions that address social sustainability, health inequalities, and the importance of social networks. She is currently engaged in projects collaborating with Umeå municipality, focusing on social capital's role in health and well-being, particularly in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, she has led investigations into vulnerable populations, including unaccompanied refugee children in Sweden and their living conditions. Eriksson employs mixed methods in her research, demonstrating expertise in qualitative methods and grounded theory. Her international collaborations span across several countries including Tanzania, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Cambodia, further enhancing her research on social vulnerabilities and coping mechanisms in various contexts.
