Biography

Malin Hasselskog is an Associate Professor in Peace Development Research at the University of Gothenburg. She began her academic journey in 1991, studying International Relations and Global Development Studies. She obtained her doctoral degree in Peace Development Research in 2009. Her educational background also includes degrees in Journalism from the University of Gothenburg and Education from Linköping University. Hasselskog has extensive experience working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Cambodia and has served as a short-term election observer for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Her research primarily focuses on international development cooperation, examining the dynamics of aid relationships among local, national, and international actors. Significant areas of interest encompass national development policy, aid relations, local participation, and contexts such as Cambodia and Rwanda. Among her recent projects are studies on national ownership in aid relationships and governance reforms in Rwanda, funded by the Swedish Research Council. She teaches and supervises at the BA and MA levels, primarily in Global Development Studies and coordinates a PhD course in Peace Development Research, where she also supervises PhD candidates.
