I am a linguist focusing on the Ibero-Romance languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan). Currently, I am Principal Investigator of the ERC-funded research project 'Experimental Replication of Historical Reanalysis Processes' (EXREAN). My research interests involve the description and explanation of variation and change in the grammar of Romance languages. I believe that linguistic structures emerge in the context of social interaction. Since written historical texts provide only indirect evidence for processes of social interaction, my research employs quantitative corpus-linguistic and psycholinguistic methods to demonstrate the effects of real interactional processes on the formation of language structures. Another focus of my work lies within the paradigm of interactional linguistics, particularly regarding the spoken grammar of Romance languages. My academic trajectory includes various prestigious positions, extensive teaching and supervision of doctoral students, and active engagement in editorial boards and scientific associations.
