Mandeep Ghuman completed his undergraduate dental training at the Royal London Hospital, followed by an intercalated BSc at King’s College London. He completed an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship, which led to his PhD investigating the inhibition of bone formation in cells of the periodontium. He subsequently underwent periodontal specialist training at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and held an NIHR Clinical Lectureship, allowing him to pursue post-doctoral research focusing on periodontal stem cell biology. Ghuman has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2013 and is currently engaged in the research and teaching of dental undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research interests encompass cell biology of periodontal wound healing and the oral cell secretome, primarily involving mesenchymal stem cell biology. He teaches the BDS Year 4 Periodontology course, leads clinical teaching for BDS and MClinDent students, and supervises MClinDent and PhD research projects.
