Professor Dr. Manex Aguirrezabal Zabaleta

Biography

Manex Aguirrezabal Zabaleta is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in the field of Natural Language Processing. He completed his PhD at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and has a Master’s degree also from UPV/EHU, focusing on Natural Language Processing. Aguirrezabal has a robust academic background, including five years of study in Computer Science. His main research interest is the automatic analysis of poetry in English, particularly the exploration of stress patterns in poetic structures. He has been at the forefront of this innovative intersection between computers and literary analysis since the early 1980s, contributing significantly to the understanding of how contemporary computational techniques can be applied to age-old literary challenges. His additional research pursuits include language generation and computational morphology/phonology, employing finite-state methods. Over the past five years, he has collaborated extensively in top research areas, enhancing the field's knowledge through shared publications and projects.
