Manisha Gupta received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Yale University, and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, after completing her undergraduate degree in Instrumentation Engineering at Mumbai University, India. She joined the University of Alberta in September 2014 as a tenured professor in the Faculty of Engineering, specifically within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Gupta has expertise in optical materials, nanophotonics, and the application of 2D materials for large-scale device growth. Her previous industrial experience includes working as an optoelectronics product engineer at Alberta Center Micro Nano Technology Products and as an instrumentation engineer at H2Gen Innovations. She also has conducted postdoctoral research in optical materials growth techniques, namely Molecular Beam Epitaxy and Pulsed Laser Deposition, while optimizing materials for device applications. Currently, her research group specializes in biosensors and bio-wearables for point-of-care sensing, as well as exploring quantum materials for optical and electronic biosensing applications.
