Dr. Manisha Juthani

Biography

Manisha Juthani is a Professor of Medicine specializing in Infectious Diseases at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree at Cornell University Medical College. Following her residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell, she served as Chief Resident at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since joining Yale in 2002, she has taken an active role in the Infectious Diseases Fellowship training program, becoming its director in 2012. Her research primarily focuses on infections in older adults, particularly urinary tract infections and pneumonia, with significant federally funded projects including an R01 grant that led to a high-impact publication in JAMA. A prominent figure during the COVID-19 pandemic, she has contributed extensively to public discussions via multiple news platforms, including CNN and NPR. Her work extends to palliative care and antibiotic resistance, reflecting a dedication to advancing both clinical practices and academic research in her field.
