Dr. Manisha Nair

Biography

Manisha Nair is a Professor of Epidemiology in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on maternal and perinatal health and she has been instrumental in establishing a research training platform in India named MaatHRI. This initiative aims to conduct large epidemiological studies to improve pregnancy care outcomes and has created a significant data resource incorporating clinical, biochemical, and imaging data of pregnant and postpartum women in India. Manisha's work emphasizes innovative translational research, particularly in the areas of anaemia, iron deficiency during pregnancy, and cardiovascular diseases. She has developed a self-learning training resource called FoCUS Solutions designed for non-cardiologists to acquire skills in cardiac imaging using point-of-care ultrasound. In her previous roles, she has contributed to several key projects, including the UK Obstetric Surveillance System and has analyzed risk factors associated with maternal mortality in the UK. Manisha holds an MBBS degree from India, an MSc in Global Health Science, and a DPhil in Public Health from the University of Oxford. She has also been involved as a consultant for the National Polio Surveillance Project of the WHO and has a history of contributing to international clinical research initiatives.
