Manoj Doss studies the basic neurocognitive mechanisms of psychoactive drugs, with a particular focus on the impact of psychedelics on learning and memory processes in humans. He is interested in the efficacy of psychedelic therapy for depression and posttraumatic stress disorder, as well as the optimized incorporation of cognitive-behavioral manipulations to modulate learning processes. Additionally, Doss explores forms of neuromodulation such as transcranial focused ultrasound as tools to understand how the brain supports cognition and psychiatric treatment. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree from University College London, postbaccalaureate training at the University of California, Davis, a doctorate from the University of Chicago, and postdoctoral training at the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before returning to UT. Doss has received funding from the Center for MINDS and the Alice Kleberg Reynolds Foundation to study the acute effects of psilocybin on distinct forms of learning and memory.
