Biography

Manon Racicot holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Montreal (2007) and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences with a specialization in Epidemiology from the same university (2011). Her primary research interests include preventing the transmission of infectious diseases in animals through the implementation of biosecurity measures. She also focuses on adherence to preventive measures, obstacles associated with them, intervention strategies, and training, as well as zoonoses and food safety. From 2011 to 2013, she worked for the Animal Biosecurity Office of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as a biosecurity expert and contributed to the development of national biosecurity standards for various animal species, including poultry, sheep, goats, and bees. Since 2013, she has been working on the development of a risk assessment model focused on establishments for the CFIA, aiming to modernize inspection approaches based on the risk that food establishments present. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Order of Veterinarians of Quebec (OMVQ) and the Association of Veterinarians in Animal Industry (AVIA).
