Biography

Manos Athanassoulis is an Associate Professor at Boston University, where he directs the Data-intensive Systems Computing (DiSC) lab and is part of the MiDAS group. His research focuses on data systems, with an emphasis on novel cloud data management architectures and the handling of complex hybrid transactional/analytical workloads. He also explores new hardware technologies, such as non-volatile memories and heterogeneous computation units. Prior to joining Boston University, he served as a Research Associate Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard University. He obtained his PhD from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 2014, where he conducted advanced research in his field. His educational background includes an MSc in Computer Systems Technology from the University of Athens in 2008 and a BSc in Informatics Telecommunications in 2005. Athanassoulis is dedicated to advancing the understanding and development of data-intensive computing systems.
