Biography

Manos Papagelis is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director for the MSc and MScAI Programs at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. His research interests lie at the intersection of data science and machine learning, with particular emphasis on data mining, graph mining, big data analytics, mobility analytics, databases, and knowledge discovery. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, following his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Crete, Greece. Before joining York University, he was a postdoctoral research scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. His previous professional experience includes working at Yahoo! Labs and conducting research at the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH, Greece. His work has been published in notable journals such as ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, and he has contributed to U.S. patent applications related to large-scale online systems. Manos has also lectured at prestigious institutions including the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Toronto.
