Dr. Manpreet Hora

Biography

Manpreet Singh Hora is the Senior Associate Dean of Programs and a Dean’s Distinguished Term Professor at the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research empirically addresses specific challenges in managing operational risk related to capturing knowledge during low-frequency, high-impact operational failures, and building learning and innovation capabilities within supply chain management. Dr. Hora has published extensively in prominent journals such as Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, and Production Operations Management. His research has garnered accolades, including the Chan Hahn Paper Award from the Academy of Management. His work has been featured in national media outlets, including NPR, CNN Money, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Dr. Hora served as Chair of the Academy of Management's Operations and Supply Chain Management division and is currently the Chair of the Service Management Special Interest Group within the MSOM Society. He is actively involved in academic publishing as a Department Editor for the Journal of Operations Management and a Senior Editor for the Production Operations Management journal. In addition to his research and administrative duties, Dr. Hora teaches courses on Service Operations Management and Empirical Methods, developing a number of teaching cases. His teaching has been recognized with several awards, including the Class of 1940 W. Roane Beard Outstanding Teaching Award and the CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Hora held roles at Deutsche Bank in various locations, including Singapore, New York, and London, where he managed an operations team in foreign exchange derivatives in Frankfurt, Germany. He received his PhD from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and an MBA from Griffith University, Australia. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
