Biography

Madhav is an engineer and roboticist turned neuroscientist, currently serving as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Neural Circuits, Cognition, and Control. His research focuses on the role of neural circuits in memory. At the NC4 lab, he records neurons that encode all signals, including place cells and grid cells in rodents performing tasks in virtual reality. He constructs custom large-scale apparatuses that enable free rodent behavior in electrophysiology experiments. Additionally, he conducts behavioral experiments with human participants navigating virtual reality environments to understand aspects of cognitive decline associated with normative aging and dementias like Alzheimer’s Disease.
