Biography

Manu Vatish undertook preclinical medicine at Keble College, Oxford, followed by a DPhil at Brasenose College, Oxford, under the aegis of Dr. Richard Boyd. He completed his clinical training at Cambridge (Queens' College). His specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology occurred through an Oxford training rotation and he followed this path with a clinical lectureship at Warwick and then a senior lectureship/consultant role at Warwick. Dr. Vatish's research interests center on the hormonal signaling of the placenta and the mechanisms disrupted in diseases such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. His current projects involve studying placental microvesicles and circulating biomarkers for managing preeclampsia. He also collaborates with various institutions exploring mitochondrial therapy for intra-uterine growth restriction and works on improving genetic screening for newborns. Additionally, he is involved in vaccine studies during pregnancy and clinical academic practice at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he engages in acute obstetric care and academic training.
