Biography

Professor Manuel Förster's research interests focus on vocational and economic financial education, particularly in the context of vocational school and university students. He investigates how various heterogeneity factors, such as migration background, socio-economic status, family influence, and gender, affect the development of economic and financial competencies. Additionally, he is engaged in the teaching and learning of digital media within vocational education. Professor Förster earned his degree in business administration from the University of Cooperative Education in Stuttgart, completing it while working at Lidl from 2000 to 2003. He later studied vocational business economics education with a major in mathematics and statistics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where he obtained his doctorate and was appointed as a junior professor in 2013. Between 2017 and 2019, he substituted the Chair of Vocational Business Economics Education at Otto-Friedrich-University Bamberg.
