Biography

Manuel F. Navedo-Morales is a Professor at UC Davis Health, specializing in Pharmacology. His research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate arterial smooth muscle excitability and vascular reactivity. The Navedo Lab employs innovative techniques to examine how both local and global signals influence excitation-contraction and excitation-transcription coupling in arterial smooth muscle cells under various physiological and pathological conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. The overarching goal of his work is to uncover regulatory signaling pathways associated with vascular dysfunction, which could lead to the identification of new therapeutic targets for treating vascular complications. He has received multiple accolades, including being a Fellow of the American Heart Association and winning the Lab Safety Award in 2021. Navedo-Morales earned his B.S. in General Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and his Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the same institution.
