MaoHui Deng is a Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Manchester and the Undergraduate Programme Director for Drama and Film Studies programmes. His journal article 'Singapore Non-Place: Nation Cinema Lens Temporal Heterogeneity,' published in Asian Cinema in 2020, received recognition at the BAFTSS Annual Conference. Deng has also received the Faculty of Humanities Outstanding Teaching Award in 2021, and he is currently engaged in a project exploring dementia and modernity.
