Biography

Mara Serbanescu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University, specializing in Critical Care Medicine. With a robust educational background, she completed her M.D. at Emory University School of Medicine and pursued further training through a Transitional Year Internship at Emory University followed by a residency in Anesthesiology focusing on research at Johns Hopkins University. Her fellowship in Adult Critical Care at Johns Hopkins solidified her expertise in managing complex clinical situations in critical care settings. Dr. Serbanescu's research interests include the interactions between gut and blood microbial signatures and their impact on immune function and organ dysfunction in sepsis.
