Biography

Mara Yerkes is a Full Professor of Comparative Social Policy specializing in Social Inequalities at Utrecht University. With a PhD from the University of Amsterdam obtained in 2006, her research focuses on the comparative analysis of welfare states and industrial relations, emphasizing how these relate to inequalities across national and local levels, particularly through an intersectional perspective on gender inequalities. She is an influential member of the International Network on Leave Policies Research and serves as co-chair of the European Social Policy Analysis Network. Throughout her career, Yerkes has authored five notable books, including works published by Policy Press and Palgrave, and has contributed to various academic journals, engaging extensively with policy issues at both European and local government levels.
