Dr. Maragatha Kuchibhatla

Biography

Maragatha Kuchibhatla is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and in the Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics at Duke University. She has a robust educational background, having earned her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 1992. Her research interests encompass statistical research methodology with a particular focus on repeated measurements, latent growth curve models, and latent class growth models. Professor Kuchibhatla specializes in classification regression trees and designing clinical trials, particularly in the area of psychiatry, where she investigates non-treatment trials in comorbid populations. She has been involved in various significant grants aimed at improving care for older adults, predicting obesity through enhanced electronic health record resources, and adapting machine learning algorithms for health outcomes. Additionally, she explores critical issues such as optimizing recovery for trauma patients through targeted nutrition delivery and assessing health disparities in lung transplantation. Over her career, she has held past appointments at Duke University, progressively moving from Assistant Research Professor to her current role as a Professor.
