Biography

Marc Amyot is a research chair holder in ecotoxicology and global change at the University of Montreal. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Montreal and completed his Ph.D. at York University. He has held a Fulbright scholarship at Texas A&M University and a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University. Before joining the University of Montreal, he served as a professor at the University of Ottawa and INRS. As a recognized expert in environmental science, he has published over a hundred articles focusing on the movement and transformations of contaminants within ecosystems. His research encompasses the photo-chemistry of contaminants, their microbial transformations, transport between water and atmosphere, and their trophic transfer, as well as the critical links between environmental contamination and human health. His extensive research areas include mercury, arsenic, selenium, rare earth elements, electronic waste, and petroleum contaminants, primarily in Quebec, Nunavik, Ontario, Nunavut, Yukon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and the United States.
