Biography

Marc Caffee is a Professor at Purdue University in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He has a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Physics from California State College, an M.S. in Physics from Washington University, and a Ph.D. in Physics also from Washington University. Caffee's research primarily focuses on the application of stable radio-nuclides in geosciences, specifically studying Quaternary landform evolution, cosmochronology, hydrology, and atmospheric processes. He has developed techniques to enable the measurement of new cosmogenic nuclides. Since joining Purdue University in 2001, he has held several positions, including Associate Department Head since 2007. Before that, he worked as a Research Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1988 to 2001, and as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist there from 1986 to 1988. Caffee is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Geophysical Union and the American Physical Society. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and his selected publications reflect a diverse range of topics in geology and planetary science.
