Biography

Marc Olivier-Loiseau is a lecturer in Linguistics at the University of Oxford, with expertise in theoretical syntax, comparative Romance syntax, and historical syntax. His research primarily focuses on word order issues in medieval Romance languages, particularly Old French and Old Occitan, as well as morphosyntax in modern Romance languages. Currently, he is working on a monograph titled 'Clitic Placement in the History of French' which will be published by Oxford University Press as part of the Oxford Studies in Diachronic and Historical Linguistics series. His academic contributions have been recognized with a Seal of Excellence from the European Commission for research quality. He is currently a research associate at the Maison Française d'Oxford and a member of the CLESTHIA research team at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris. Olivier-Loiseau is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment in linguistics and serves on the Executive Board of the Societas Linguistica Europaea, the largest linguistics society in Europe, and has previously sat on the Executive Committee of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain. His teaching responsibilities cover a wide range of topics in linguistics, including syntax, semantics, and historical linguistics.
