Dr. Marc Pelletier

Biography

Marc Pelletier, MD, MSc, FRCSC serves as the Division Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Yale School of Medicine and is also the Physician-in-Chief of the Heart and Vascular Center at Yale New Haven Health System. He leads a team of cardiac surgeons and subspecialists, focusing on various cardiac conditions and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Pelletier possesses extensive training in cardiothoracic transplantation and ventricular assist devices, having completed advanced training at Stanford University following his graduation from McGill University. His clinical specialties include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, and coronary bypass surgery. As a prolific researcher, he has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications and has shifted his research focus to clinical outcomes, aiming to improve cardiac surgery care using existing databases. He has held significant leadership roles, including chairing the cardiac surgery examination board for the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and serving as program chair for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons' annual meeting. Dr. Pelletier is a respected educator, recognized for his commitment to resident education and mentorship, receiving multiple awards for his contributions to the field.
