Biography

Marc Perreault holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Université de Montréal and completed a Master's in Hospital Pharmacy at Hôpital Saint-Luc in Montreal. He earned his PharmD from SUNY Buffalo and completed a research fellowship at Hôtel-Dieu de Montreal. With extensive experience, he served as a critical care pharmacist at the Ottawa General Hospital from 1994 to 2001 and has been involved in critical care at the McGill University Health Centre since 2001. His research focuses on critical care pharmacotherapy, particularly in pain management, agitation, delirium, and iatrogenic withdrawal syndromes associated with opioid and sedative exposure in intensive care settings. He is involved in multiple international studies assessing best practices for withdrawal and evaluation of sedation management in ICUs. Perreault has served in various professional roles, including as the director of the MSc in Advanced Pharmacotherapy program from 2007 to 2016. His contributions to pharmacy have been recognized through several awards, including the Roger Leblanc Award from APES in April 2015, and he was named a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists in February 2017. He has also been a significant figure in promoting pharmacy education and research in critical care.
