Dr. Marc Schiler

Biography

Marc Schiler is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern California, where he has had a distinguished career in architecture and building science. He specializes in environmental controls and has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in this discipline as well as in lighting and environmental-related studies. Schiler directed the Chase L. Leavitt Graduate Program in Building Science and has been instrumental in shaping the academic landscape for many students over his decades of teaching. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from USC and a Master of Science in Architectural Science from Cornell University. Schiler has authored, co-authored, or edited six books focusing on environmental controls and has published over 100 papers, making significant contributions to the field. His consulting work has involved 60 buildings, and he has been a vital educator, having taught over 5,000 students throughout his career. Before returning to USC to teach in 1982, he worked and studied at Cornell's Computer Graphics lab and served as an Assistant Professor in Architecture and Landscape Architecture for four years.
