Biography

Marc Tornow is a professor of Molecular Electronics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He received his doctoral degree from the University of Stuttgart in 1997, where his dissertation was supervised at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he focused on the development of RF devices for Infineon Technologies in Munich. Between 2001 and 2006, he led a junior research group at the Walter Schottky Institute of TUM, and obtained his postdoctoral teaching qualification in experimental physics in 2007. From 2006 to 2013, he served as a professor at TU Braunschweig before being appointed to TUM in 2013. His research interests are centered on electronic transport in (bio-)molecular systems, memristive devices, and superconducting quantum technologies, including the development of neuromorphic electronic devices and the manipulation of surfaces at the nanoscale.
