Biography

Marcel Behr is a clinician-scientist with a full professorship in the Department of Medicine at McGill University. He is an associate member of the departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, as well as Microbiology and Immunology. He served as the founding Director of the McGill International TB Centre from 2012 to 2018 and has been an associate program leader in the Infectious Diseases, Immunity and Global Health Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre since 2016. Additionally, he became the co-Director of the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection Immunity (McGill-i4) and has held the position of interim director of the McGill Infectious Diseases Division. His academic training includes prestigious institutions such as the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, McGill University, and Stanford University. Dr. Behr's work has been recognized through various awards including the Chercheur National Award by FRSQ in Quebec and the Joe Doupe Award from the Clinical Society of Clinical Investigation in Canada. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the Royal Society of Canada. His laboratory focuses on using bacterial genetics to study the epidemiology and pathogenesis of mycobacterial diseases.
