Biography

Marcel Bissonnette is an associate professor in the Department of Psychopedagogy and Andragogy at the Faculty of Education at the Université de Montréal. After a career in teaching French as a second language at the secondary level, he remains current in academic matters through the supervision of internships. He has been a liaison agent for international internships that he has developed with the internship team for over a decade and has also created a teaching practice in Indigenous territory. Bissonnette initiated the integration of teaching laboratory courses and ICT in second-language instruction, which are integral to his responsibilities. He exposes master's and doctoral students to the content of teaching models. His field expertise informs his research and optimizes the supervision of his PhD candidates. An associated researcher at the Interuniversity Research Center on Teacher Training and the Teaching Profession (CRIFPE), he participates in various conferences as both a speaker and auditor. He developed the concept of written instructional guidelines in a second language and described its traits through evolving pedagogical approaches and methods. His guidance of trainee teachers, along with his recorded observations concerning practical training, leads him to construct an account of theoretical knowledge mobilized during internships. Recently, he has felt the need to reconsider and refocus the support provided to trainees in the new version of the professional master's program in education. The development of artificial intelligence for academic supervision is of interest to him, as is his sensitivity towards young people with Tourette Syndrome, prompting him to reflect on their well-being and success in school environments.
