Dr. Marcel Quarfood

Biography

Marcel Quarfood is an associate professor at Umeå University, specializing in the field of philosophy with a focus on Kant's philosophy. He obtained his Ph.D. in theoretical philosophy from Stockholm University in 2004, with a thesis on Kant's Transcendental Idealism. His research primarily investigates systematic questions regarding the nature of transcendental idealism and delves into specific topics within Kantian philosophy, including the role of logic, the status of teleological judgments in biology, and the foundations of morality. In addition to his research activities, Quarfood regularly teaches history of philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology, as well as philosophy of science. He also conducts seminars on classical works by philosophers such as Hume, Kant, and Anscombe. Quarfood is involved in teacher education and teaches philosophy of science to doctoral students at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Umeå University. His contributions to the academic community include various publications, one notable being a chapter titled "Kantian Perspective Michael Thompson’s Logic Life" in the proceedings of the XII International Kant Congress.
