Biography

Marcel Turcotte completed his Ph.D. at Université de Montréal under the supervision of Guy Lapalme and Robert Cedergren. He then pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of Florida, USA, working with Steven Benner on evolutionary-based approaches to protein secondary structure prediction. Later, he relocated to the United Kingdom to work in the Biomolecular Modelling Laboratory of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. In 2000, Turcotte returned to Canada and joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa, where he currently serves as a Professor. His research interests include bioinformatics, computational biology, algorithm design, data structures, applied machine learning, and computational intelligence.
