Biography

Marcela P. Vizcaychipi is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Imperial College London. She has extensive expertise in Intensive Care Medicine as a consultant at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Dr. Vizcaychipi obtained her medical degree from North East University in Argentina in 1994 and continued her education at University Complutense in Spain. She completed her doctoral thesis on the prevention of thromboembolic events in critical care at the University of Buenos Aires in 1997. Her professional journey at Imperial began in 2001, leading to her Fellowship at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2005. Dr. Vizcaychipi returned to the USA for a neuroscience scholarship at Stanford University in 2008 and, upon her return, focused on research related to preventive cellular mechanisms in memory decline due to surgery. She founded the Perioperative Research Memory Group and contributes significantly to clinical research in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. She has received numerous research awards and leads several high-impact clinical trials using artificial intelligence to improve patient outcomes. As a dedicated educator, she mentors undergraduates and supervises PhD students across multiple institutions, promoting innovative research in the medical field.
