Biography

Marcella Eaton is a Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Manitoba. She earned her Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture from the Edinburgh College of Art, Heriot-Watt University, in 1997. Her research focuses on the philosophy, ethics, and aesthetics of design education in landscape architecture. Marcella is also recognized for her contributions to teaching, having received several awards including the SSHRC Connection Grant and the Carl R. Nelson Jr. Teaching Award in 2009. A proactive member of the academic community, she collaborates with colleagues across Canada to form networks that share innovative ideas in landscape research. Her recent publications delve into various facets of landscape architecture, addressing issues such as global warming, ecological knowledge, and the design of meaningful environments. Alongside her scholarly work, she is committed to educating future landscape architects in a manner that prepares them for the collaborative and creative challenges of the field.
