Dr. Marcello Sega

Biography

Marcello Sega received his Laurea degree in Physics from the University of Trento, Italy, and earned a PhD in Physics in 2005, focusing on computational investigations of glycolipid membranes. He held a series of postdoctoral appointments, including being awarded a Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship, before moving to the University of Vienna until 2018. In August 2022, he was appointed Associate Professor of Molecular Thermodynamics in the Department of Chemical Engineering at University College London. Prior to his current position, he was the Team Head at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Germany, from July 2018 to July 2022, and served as a University Assistant at the University of Vienna from April 2015 to June 2018. He also held the role of Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Vienna from March 2013 to March 2015. He has a strong background in computational physics, and his interdisciplinary work often intersects with topics of sustainable development such as health, water sanitation, and climate action.
