Biography

Marcelo Laprea-Bigott is a Professor of Practice in Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master's degree in the same field from the same institution, and a Bachelor's degree from Universidad de Zulia in Venezuela. With extensive industry experience, he has worked as an advisor for Schlumberger and has served as the Director of a curriculum focused on reservoir engineering and unconventional reservoirs. He has also held the position of Visiting Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M’s Energy Engineering Institute. Additionally, he has served as the President of S.A. Holditch-Venezuela and as a Business Development Manager for Holditch Reservoir Technologies. Marcelo is a Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers as recognized in 2020 and received the Advisor Award from Schlumberger in 2014.
