Biography

Marci Shore received her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University, a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. She completed her doctorate and subsequently became a postdoctoral fellow at the Harriman Institute of Columbia University. From 2002 to 2006, she served as an assistant professor of history at Indiana University. Currently on leave from her position as a Professor of History at Yale University, she is set to begin teaching at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy in the 2025-2026 academic year. Shore's research focuses on intellectual history in Central and Eastern Europe during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. She has publications that discuss phenomenology, existentialism, Marxism, and modernism. Among her notable works is the new edition of 'Ukrainian Night: Intimate History of the Revolution,' set to publish in March 2024. She has contributed articles to several esteemed publications, such as The New Yorker and Foreign Policy, and has won various awards including the Guggenheim Fellowship for her work.
