Dr. Marcie Gawel

Biography

Marcie Gawel is a Doctor of Nursing Practice with substantial leadership experience in the healthcare field, particularly in the areas of pediatric emergency services and intervention programs for violently injured patients. She serves as the Coordinator of the Hospital Violence Intervention Program at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she employs her 20 years of healthcare experience to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team aimed at reducing recidivism among violently injured patients through comprehensive care and community partnerships in Connecticut. Marcie's research interests include sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, and domestic violence, with a commitment to improving patient outcomes and community health education. She has also contributed to nursing education as an adjunct professor at both Yale School of Nursing and Southern Connecticut State University, influencing future generations of nursing professionals. Her diverse educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Education, culminating in her Doctorate in Nursing from the University of Connecticut.
