Biography

Marcin Borsuk is a Research Associate at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, with a focus on financial stability, financial intermediation, and climate finance. His main area of interest is the role of banks in the transition to a low-carbon economy, particularly on the financial impacts of this transition and the physical risks involved. Marcin's current projects investigate the effects of carbon pricing on firms' financial conditions, the interplay between banks' financial vulnerabilities and environmental risks, and the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure in market discipline. Before joining the University of Oxford, he was a visiting scholar at New York University's Stern School of Business and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Cape Town. With a decade of experience as a financial economist working at the National Bank of Poland and the European Central Bank, he has conducted empirical, policy-oriented research on systemic risk in the financial sector and climate-related financial risks, including macroprudential climate stress-testing. Marcin holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Gdansk, where his doctoral thesis won a competition and he was awarded by the President of the National Bank of Poland.
