Biography

Marco Brambilla is a contract professor at Università della Svizzera italiana and an associate professor at Politecnico di Milano. He teaches subjects such as Data Modeling, Web Science, and Software Engineering, with a focus on innovation and research at both industrial and academic levels. His research interests encompass Data Science, Software Modeling Languages, Design Patterns, Crowdsourcing, Monitoring, and Big Data Analysis. He has held visiting researcher positions at CISCO in San José and the University of California, San Diego, as well as a visiting professor role at Dauphine University in Paris. Marco is the founder of the startup Fluxedo and has co-founded the company WebRatio, which develops software modeling tools aimed at Web and Mobile Business Process-based software applications. He is the main author of the OMG standard for Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML) and has published around 200 papers, including international books and research articles across journals and conferences, receiving multiple awards for his work. He has also served as a reviewer for various scientific journals and held significant roles in numerous conferences, including being a program committee chair for ICWE 2008 in Berlin.
