Marco Cantini is a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Glasgow. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino, respectively, achieving full marks with honors. Cantini pursued a joint PhD in Biomedical Biomechanical Engineering between several Italian Technical Universities and completed post-doctoral research at Universitat Politècnica de València and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia in Spain. His research focuses on the modulation of cell-protein-material interactions and their control over cell fate, particularly through the engineering of microenvironments using dynamic biointerfaces and viscoelastic hydrogels. He is also involved in the development of advanced smart materials to regulate stem cell fate for tissue repair and regeneration. Cantini has received a UKRI Rutherford Fund Fellowship and participates in several multidisciplinary initiatives within the university, concentrating on the implications of mechanotransduction in regenerative medicine.
