Dr. Marco Gidaro

Biography

Marco Gidaro is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. He began his career as an emergency room nurse in level 1 trauma centers in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. After completing his graduate studies in anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania, he has worked as a CRNA for 20 years across various high-stakes environments, including level 1 trauma centers and high-risk OB transplant hospitals. Marco is passionate about teaching, viewing his students as blank canvases eager to learn about their chosen profession. He emphasizes the challenges of anesthesia, inspiring students to learn to ‘handle hard better’ as they grow in their understanding and skills in this critical field. His career highlights include contributing to the improvement of patient anesthesia care through advocacy and education on the use of nasal variable positive airway pressure anesthesia, a technique now implemented across multiple major university medical centers. Outside of his professional life, Marco is a proud father, husband, poker player, foodie, and world traveler.
