Biography

Marco Pasi is an Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam, where he specializes in the History of Western Esotericism. He holds a Laurea degree in Philosophy from the University of Milan and a DEA and Ph.D. in Religious Studies from École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris. His research primarily focuses on the relationships between modern esotericism, politics, and art, as well as methodological issues pertaining to the study of Western esotericism. Pasi is the editor-in-chief of the Aries Book Series published by Brill and a founding member of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism (ESSWE). He also serves as co-chair of the Western Esotericism Group at the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and General Secretary of the European Association for the Study of Religions (EASR). Pasi has delivered lectures internationally and published extensively, including works on Aleister Crowley and the role of Kabbalah in modern culture. He has taught various courses at the University of Amsterdam and previously at the University of Cagliari and ETH Zürich, contributing significantly to the academic discourse surrounding esotericism and its intersections with politics and culture.
