Biography

Marco Salviato joined the William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics in the summer of 2015. He previously served as a postdoctoral research scholar and then as a research assistant professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University. Prof. Salviato's research interests lie in the areas of Mechanics and Solids, particularly Fracture Mechanics. His work focuses on understanding the mechanical behavior of materials and structures across multiple scales, utilizing both advanced computational and analytical approaches alongside new experimental techniques. The objective of his research is to develop tools that assist in designing lighter aerospace and automotive structures while enhancing manufacturability, damage tolerance, structural stability, and integrity.
