Dr. Marcos Moscoso Garay

Biography

Marcos Moscoso-Garay holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and has over ten years of experience teaching Spanish and Latin American culture to undergraduate students from diverse nationalities and academic backgrounds. His research predominantly focuses on contemporary Latin American studies, particularly the Andean region and contemporary Peruvian studies, with a strong emphasis on women, arts, cinema, and the impacts of globalization from the 16th to the 19th centuries. He is currently involved in a research project titled 'Aesthetics, Bodies, Machines', which closely examines the representations of bodies in the work of Indigenous filmmakers, especially those of Indigenous women. In addition to his teaching commitments at UBC, Moscoso-Garay has published several academic contributions in esteemed literary journals and has authored chapters in edited collections that explore various themes in Hispanic literature and cultural studies. His extensive academic experience enriches his teaching methodology, allowing him to create engaging and inclusive learning environments. Through his scholarly work and creative outputs, he continues to contribute significantly to the fields of Latin American literature and cultural analysis.
