Biography

Marcus is an experienced pathologist and medical educator. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine and subsequently trained in Anatomical Pathology at the Royal Hobart Hospital and PathWest. He undertook post-Fellowship training at UCLH National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London and is currently a consultant pathologist at PathWest QEII Medical Centre in Perth, specializing in Head and Neck pathology and Surgical Neuropathology. Marcus has been at the University of Western Australia since 2017, serving as Co-Director of the MD program and Head of the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UWA Medical School. He has extensive involvement in teaching pathology and assessment in student selection. His roles have included Co-Director of the MD Program (2025), Head of Division (2022-present), and Selection Lead (2020-present). Alongside these responsibilities, he has coordinated units such as Integrated Medical Systems 1 (2020-2022) and Body Systems Disease (2017-2019). Marcus's work also contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and health management.
