Biography

Marcus Lundberg obtained his PhD from Stockholm University in 2005. He completed postdoctoral studies at Kyoto University from 2006 to 2008 and at Stanford University from 2009 to 2011. Since 2011, he has been working in the Theoretical Chemistry program at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory at Uppsala University. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of catalysis involving enzymes and metal complexes at the quantum level. His work is divided into several areas, including the development of approaches to interpret X-ray spectra of transition-metal catalysts and understanding the reactions involved in oxygen and hydrogen evolution. Additionally, he aims to model enzymatic biomimetic reactions to eventually develop catalysts that can be used for generating fuels from solar energy within renewable energy systems.
